Land's EndLand’s End is the most south-westerly point of the British mainland, and draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. It has a particular resonance with visitors because of the phrase ‘Land’s End to John O’Groats’ – linking two remote parts of Britain over eight hundred miles apart, and used to suggest the wildest and remotest parts of the country. The Longships, a collection of rocky islets about a mile west from Land’s End, are normally visible from the spot, and are popular with divers. The highest islet, Carn Bras, has the Longships Lighthouse, originally built in 1795, replaced in 1873 and still working with lights and foghorn today.
